There He Goes

No news here, just wanted to say former Brave Wilson Betemit has been traded to the Yankees for Scott Proctor. I wonder if Betemit can handle New York, if they boo A-Rod, I wonder what they’ll do to him?

  1. Braves to turn to pitching
Once the Mark Teixeira deal is finalized, GM John Schuerholz will turn his focus toward improving his pitching staff. If he’s willing to part with Kyle Davies, there’s a chance he could land Royals closer Octavio Dotel. With one NL scout saying the Braves are still in discussions with the White Sox, there’s a chance Schuerholz could land Jon Garland or Javier Vazquez. Although Bronson Arroyo is on the radar, the Braves may not have the necessary pieces to add him to their rotation. — Mark Bowman

  2. I’ve heard that the Tex deal is finalized according to the AJC.

  3. I think we will make a huge splash within the next few hours.. You know I remember last year deals were made but not announced until approved by Bud, some were not announced to 6 or 7′ o Clock. So I guess the paperwork has to be to Bud by 4, but not necessarily mentioned untl approval. I cant wait for the dead line countdoun on ESPN

  4. Yeah, if any thing good happens on that, I’ll be right here for the latest news.

  5. Rotoworld update:

The Braves are reportedly offering Jo-Jo Reyes in a deal for Bronson Arroyo.

A deal still seems like a long shot, but the Braves have been extremely aggressive. Reyes would likely go right into Cincinnati’s rotation if dealt. However, he’s a whole lot more interesting in NL-only leagues as a Brave.

  6. Yep. I was just about to report it. THANKS!

  7. Dotel deal done accrding to Stark

1 Octavio Dotel, Royals RHP 3
    MARKET REPORT
For weeks, K.C. general manager Dayton Moore asked teams for their top position-player prospects in exchange for Dotel. But every one of those teams balked. So in the end, it appears Moore decided his best bet was to go back to an organization he knows and trade for a pitcher he once drafted. Hence, Octavio Dotel for Kyle Davies of Atlanta. The deal, according to sources, has been agreed on. But it can’t become official until the Braves are sure their other trade, for Mark Teixeira, is done — because Davies could, theoretically, become the player to be named later in that deal if Matt Harrison, the current PTBNL, gets rejected for medical reasons. That’s not expected to be a major obstacle, though. So when the Dotel trade goes down, it will give the Royals another legitimate big league arm. But it’s a trade that also has caused frustration on the part of some of the half-dozen teams that chased Dotel for weeks. They thought they were asked to pay a heavier price than Davies, and they weren’t notified of any price drops before Dotel went to the Braves. Nevertheless, it shouldn’t shock anyone that if Moore was going to take, well, less, he would take it with a player he knows well enough to have a gut feeling about. “I’ve always thought,” said an official of one team with interest, “that Dayton’s familiarity with Atlanta’s personnel and staff would give them an edge.”

  8. I know that will happen here soon along with Arroyo.
