ESPN has reported that since Marcus Giles had another off year, San Diego has decided to release him. This ended the reunion with his brother Brian Giles. Marcus struggled mightily again. Before he left the Braves in the 2006 offseason, he had a horrible year. He had another one this year. He has had down years, and could come cheap. The Braves need pop off the bench, and Marcus could take Martin Prado’s or Willy Aybar’s spot. He could help out Kelly Johnson, just the same way Glenn Hubbard turned him into an excellent fielder. With Tom Glavine likely coming back to the Braves, I see no harm in bringing back Giles, no matter how bad he struggled.
