Braves Sweep Dodgers

The Braves took the entire series from the Dodgers, and Jair Jurrjens made sure they won the game today, going 7 really strong innings today, only giving up 3 hits and 1 run. He struck out 8. If Hampton and Glavine come back strong for the Braves, then the Braves will have the strongest starting pitching staff, possibly in all of Major League Baseball. Smoltz, Hudson, Glavine, Hampton, Jurrjens is way more dominant than Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz, Avery, Smith. That is, if Hampton can prove to be healthy and pitch well.

The Bullpen did ok. Blaine Boyer got into some late trouble in the eighth, but got himself out of it with a few good pitches. Will Ohman closed the game out and gave up a hit, and walked one. Overall, the bullpen is really starting to improve and come around. Just think of what it will be like with Rafael Soriano coming back. Hopefully the Bravos go out and make one good deal for a reliever, to give me some relief on the assurance of them finishing the game.

Hitting thrived again for Atlanta, as Mark Teixeira and Kelly Johnson knocked out homers, and Martin Prado and Mark Kotsay drove in a run each. Tex’s homer was a two run homer.

Series Notes: This is the first time since 2000 the Braves have swept the Dodgers at Turner Field.

W: Jair Jurrjens (2-2)
L: Hiroki Kuroda (1-2)
