Tim Hudson threw a great game in the first game of the series against the Nationals, going 6 and 2/3 of an inning. The only big blemish on his record for today’s game is he gave up 10 hits and 2 runs. Huddy walked 2 and struck out 3. Overall, he had a really nice game.
The offense is what really lit up the night. Scoring 6 runs in the first three innings really set the game for the Braves and gave Hudson a nice lead to work with. McCann knocked out a solo homer in the second off of Nat’s pitcher Matt Chico. Prado kept up his good hitting, as he played for Kelly Johnson. He knocked a double along with 2 RBIs. Chipper was back in the lineup today after coming out yesterday with a small quad injury. He too had an RBI. Hudson helped out his own cause, knocking in 2 runs for himself to work with. Francoeur knocked in a run as well. 7 runs in all.
Royce Ring finished up the 7th, while Carlyle did the 8th, and Manny Acosta finished up the game in the ninth on a strikeout.
W: Tim Hudson (3-1)
