The Braves pushed themselves to reel in the Marlins, as it was a good game. Chipper celebrated his birthday with his 7th homer this year in the second inning. Chuck James didn’t do too bad, as he went 5 innings, and gave up 5 hits on 4 runs. Jose Campillo went the nexted two innings, only giving up one hit. Manny Acosta finished up the game, only giving up two walks to end it. He received his second save on the year.
The hitting was loaded too, as Mark Teixeira drove in a run, Jeff Francoeur drove in three, Matt Diaz drove in two runs, and Chipper had his lone RBI.
Note: After the game, Chuck James was demoted. Bobby Cox described it as a way to “bring in fresh arms”. Can’t argue with that logic.
